This is not a discussion regarding whether using a non-Poo oil filter will destroy your engine.

Please post what oil filters fit FOR THE ACE 570 and let's not urinate on this thread with opinions....save that for another thread.

I lifted this from another site.

Can anyone confirm that Mobil 1 108 filter fits too? I've read a couple of tests that confirm that Mobil 1 filters do a great job at filtering by they are fairly restrictive and can drop oil pressure up to 10psi.

Yes, that PH6017A is used on probably 90% of polaris ATV and SXS's and is the number that comes up if you do a search. I don't have any idea why it hasn't come up until you found it since it is the correct one.
I have used those for years. That is also the same filter I used on some of my motorcycles.

I have used the Purolator L14612 and L14610 on my 570 and also on my previous 500. You can buy them at wally world for $3.27 and have a friend that put over 10000 miles on a 500 using this filter and Mobil one oil. The only difference in the filters is the 14610 is a little longer than the other. I use the L14612 on my 570 ACE, because it fits better but both will work on the ACE 570

The filters I listed are automotive filters. Is the PH6017A available at Wal-mart or other retailers?

Yes, the PH6017A is the WalMart listing in their small motorcycle and atv section and they have them at almost all the stores in this area.

This is really convenient for us in the boondocks since we can get filters and Mobil1 or Rotella t-6 oil at good prices locally for our rigs.

Yep, I'm using the purolater filter for both my wife and mine aces. Seems to work fine and at that price I will be keeping my oil change intervals between 25 to 50 hours depending on usage during camping trips. I want to do 25 hour OCIs but not practical when I camp and ride usually 40 hours in a week. Rotella T6 is the oil I'm using.

I also am using Rotella T6 this time around. I usually use Mobil One but so many members use Rotella I decided to try it. Just got back from a three day trip to HM and had no problems with the oil or the Purolator L14612 filter

vandal I looked up the cross ref. for 570 ace filter polaris 2540086 and I get purolator filter l-16817 and l-16819 not L-14612
The cross references filter your found is a motorcycle specific filter. Use what you are comfortable with. I use the 14612 filter with no issues or worries. Motorcycle filters usually differ with a lower bypass setting but if you change your oil and filter regularly you should never get into a situation where your filter is so clogged that it bypasses the filtering element.

Seems like the spec based on equivalent motorcycle filter is for filter to bypass about 8-9 psi while several of the automotive filters listed bypass at 3-4 psi higher spec.

Bypass occurs when an oil filter is clogged so much that bypass flow is necessary to prevent engine damage from oil starvation. If you change your filter regularly 50 hours or so, I doubt you'll ever experience "bypass" unless you are using a cheap oil that sludges your engine.

I looked for the L16817 and couldn't find it so I went back to the old tried and true L14612. They work perfectly and I have an internet friend who has over 24000 miles on two Polaris atvs with perfect results using these filters. Buy what you want but this filter works great. You can also use L14610, it is a little longer than the other but will work if you have the space to use it
