Rode today at Perry state park, ohio. It has a little of everything, I am yet to be let down by anything about this machine. I was with two friends, one on a 570 rzr and one on a 600 sportsman. The ace has more ground clearance than the rzr, so it made it through things the rzr could not. Buddy on the rzr has a gopro, as soon as he sends it to me I will post it.
Believe it or not but after 3 day's in West Virginia mine was worse than that. I went and bought the fender flares this weekend. They should help or at least cut down on some of the mud being thrown up in air intake area. I stayed pretty clean though. It all went on the rear of the machine.
Woohoo finally! The trails opened up in my neck of the woods and I got in my first two rides of the season! So I have to admit I was still a little skeptical still of its abilities and handling just running it around at home prior to getting it out on the trails.
Not anymore!!! I don't know if anyone else noticed it but after I hit about 100 miles on the Ace it came to life. I have heard rumors that Polaris programs the ECU to not let the machine reach its maximum potential until after you have around 100 miles on it. After my experience this past weekend I tend to believe that rumor just might be true. Once I got a hair over 100 miles on my Ace the motor sounded different, a good different, the temperature rose a little and it had more power, as if prior to that the timing was retarded due to ECU programming to make sure the machine gets broken in properly.
I love the Ace! It is plenty fast (had it up to 59 via gps) then it started to hit the rev limiter. That's impressive! Granted I am 100 lbs soaking wet and The Ace was packed with a pretty light load so I guess speeds may very from different scenarios. I am still running the stock tires and rims which I plan to change just because of the amount of miles I put on, I know the stocker's will be gone in no time. Even this being the case it handled awesome!
Clipping along at an average of 35 to 40 on nice winding trails (added bonus got 130 per tank of fuel riding like this) it rode like a Cadillac and there was nothing I threw at it that it couldn't handle or that I felt the least bit uneasy in it about. Maybe the fact that I used to race stock cars helped but man to me this Ace is a fun little rip a roo! I was grinning from ear to ear the entire weekend! I even scratched the yard work idea for Sunday just to go riding because I had so much fun in it on Saturday.
I even let my hubby drive it and he is used to his Ranger mid size 800 and he was impressed and grinning from ear to ear as to how much fun the Ace was! I had a few people who were like what kind of Razor is that and I laughed told them all about the Ace, told them the motor displacement which of course then they got disappointed until I said well my hubby can't lose me in the woods and even flat out on roads I was keeping right up with him! That got their interest back!!
So all I can say is after over 200 miles out on the trails this past weekend I am completely in love with my Ace! There are only two things I would like a little and those are a little quicker from low end to top end and more colors available, however I can deal with those because I am not trading it anytime soon!!!!! I hope you are all having fun and loving your Ace!!!! Happy trail riding!
