The manual says that 87 octane can be used. I've been using 93 for now. I may try lower. The compression ratio is 11.5:1 which is pretty high. The engine might have anti-knock sensors, I don't know.
I run super (92/93) in all my small engine and off road stuff (even my mower), I know it doesn't need it but I have some friends in the petroleum business that were telling me about the difference in additive packages between grades of fuel and that it is a factor between regular and super unleaded. Since its not like the expense of filling up the truck twice a week it really isn't that much more expensive for the better additive package. The extra octane is just a bonus.
I usually use the highest of the three, with seafoam.
Lately I've been doing the middle one though, with no noticeable negative effect.
