Got power-comparison

looking at an Ace ,recently had 05 sportsman 400 425cc to plow with and ride, it did well overall, ride with rangers, and various other atvs, more into the fast sleds and never got the bug for atv riding, just wasn't a fun factor. I think this maybe the thing that makes it fun. can anyone comment if they believe the performance level of the ace is at or slightly above the 400 sp? usually the terrain does not allow speeds higher then 35mph other then logging roads then 50mph area, great beginning to a good forum .

I have recently ridden a Sportsman 500. In comparison to the Ace, it has a lot more low end torque. The power curve on the Ace seems to be at a much higher RPM than the Sportsman. The Ace idles at 1250 to 1200 RPM. From my experience, they have similar top end speed.

Including in low gear?
Scoundrel, you are right as usual. I was talking about high range only. I did not ride the Sportsman 500 in low range.
I had a 500 Arctic Cat (sorry) 443cc. It ran good, topped out at 45. Wouldn't break the rear tires loose going around a corner for anything. The ace will accelerate a lot harder. If you crank the wheel and gun it it will throw a roost and it weighs over 100 pounds more. One thing I noticed for people who are test driving new machines is that mine seemed really tight for the first 40 or 50 miles then it came to life. I know it's not exactly what you asked about but i figured the AC would be pretty close to the 400.
thanks for the replies so far, the big question most experienced riders are asking will the fun factor out weigh the lower power output , I did see the dyno jet is offering a powercommander and Dalton industries is working on a clutch kit, and you see a lot of photos with 26inch tires on them if the Ace was a slug I wouldn't think those companies would invest in R/D

The overwhelming majority of people who have ridden the ACE say that they were concerned about power until they rode one, and are no longer concerned, and it is lots of fun and a great machine.
Obviously, people still need to compare the ACE's strengths and weaknesses to their requirements and decide if it's the right vehicle for their style of riding.

I would not recommend it for someone who likes to go all out on the dunes and do jumps and stuff.
I definitely would recommend it for someone who wants to ride technical 50" ATV trails, or 4x4 trails, or just meander along on service roads.
I have put my name on the dotted line and have one ready to pick up ,got the black wheels, and 26tires,and winch, going to wait to get a plow, sure hope they produce one as I sold the sportsman I plowed a lot of area with and will be in deep do do with the wifey if they don't make one, now wait for the trails to open in maine
