Heavy Duty Radiator?

245 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  mrdibs
Wife likes to take her Ace (2018 900 XC) into the mud, and the radiator tends to get nasty quick. Thinking a heavy duty / triple bypass radiator might keep it cooler longer, but I can't find anything that's said to fit. Has anyone mounted a non-OEM radiator successfully without a lot of modifications? If you have, what did you use? I don't want to do a relocate, she has a trunk and harness mount on the back of the cage.

If the issue is restricted airflow from mud, I would think a thicker radiator would still suffer the same restrictions.

It does, but triple bypass basically forces water to traverse the cooling fins three times instead of just once, so if portions of the radiator are functioning better you'll get more cooling overall. Some of the heavy duty radiators have more spacing between fins so mud can pass through instead of getting lodged in the fins. I have one of these in my Can AM and it completely solved my overheat issue.
