I don't know much about how they get this rating. I was just surfing through Polaris website and noticed that the Ace has a Hitch Towing Rating of 1,500 lbs. This is identical (if I didn't read the specs wrong) to the Sportsman XP 850 HO EPS. That doesn't seem right to me since the 850 has a bigger engine. Can someone explain to me how they get this rating and how they are the same? This may be a stupid question, but might save me a headache down the road. Thanks!
Not sure what the specs are on the other parts of the 850, but tow ratings aren't based only on engine. In fact, the engine is sometimes the lowest contributing factor. The ACE may have better brakes (I know it uses the ones off the 570 rzr) a stouter axle, lower center of gravity that may help keep the front end from lifting under hard braking with a trailer so that you don't lose steering.
I knew it had to be other factors besides the engine. I just wasn't sure what they were. I thought that maybe torque and frame structure played a part. Thanks for the info!
