When I bought the Ace, I also bought an insurance policy through Progressive. I was primarily concerned about theft and fire. The majority of the cost of the policy was for collision. This is the first ATV insurance policy that I have ever bought. I am curious if anyone has any experience with collision coverage through Progressive. Luge recently rolled his Ace when an axle broke and spun him a 180. He has not yet gotten an estimate but posted that his Ace may be totaled. Is there anyone that has had a similar experience on any ATV and knows if Progressive collision would cover this type of accident?

Im an insurance agent for Allstate. I can't speak on how progressive is with claims, but in general they should cover his vehicle for any damage minus deductible. Comprehensive would cover theft, fire, if you hit animal etc. keep in mind they will probably say his accident was his fault and that will follow him around buying atv insurance for 3-5 years depending on company. This is where it could get dicey with some companies. If the axle was defective then polaris could actually be the one at fault. Or it could be the riders fault for not inspecting vehicle. Lots of factors we don't know. Was the hill beyond manufactures guidelines for incline etc, etc. This is where having an Agent who wants you to be treated fairly comes in. We want you to stay with us! If you bought online, your at mercy of adjuster. If you have agent, hopefully he can fight for you. Collision would also cover ace falling off trailer.

Glad I bought insurance for mine. I was out over memorial weekend and hit a tree. Progressive totalled the vehicle because I bent the frame. The good news is that I walked away un-injured and the seatbelt worked great!!!

Jknorton, thanks for the post. First, I am glad that you were not injured. I am glad to hear that Progressive came through for you. One-Shot and I both bought insurance for our Aces through two different companies that we have other insurance with. Both companies issued policies through Progressive. They seem to dominate the ATV insurance market. I am glad to hear that they honor their policies. I have no experience with them and was concerned.

My policy was $142 per year for $250 deductible. The $500 deductible would have been only $133. I thought the extra $9 per year was worth it. There was also a $2 transaction fee because I gave them a credit card number over the phone. They insured the ACE as an ATV. The policy amount was based on the size of the engine. With only 327 CCs, the Ace was very inexpensive to insure.

My premium was $187/yr with 100/300 and a $250 detuctable. It also included a $3000 accessory coverage. Progressive refunded me full retail for the ACE and full retail for all accessories and will pay my sales tax on the replacement.

I have boat and ATV insurance thru Progressive.
I had a lot of damage from Hurricane Ike.
Progressive sent in an adjuster after the roads opened.
He took pictures and input stuff in a computer.
After he finished, it spit out a check and he gave it to me.
I took the paperwork he gave with the check to the boat yard and they said it would be enough.
I called Progressive and they said if a reputable boat yard did the work and it was more money,
send the bill to them.
Progressive paid them what they sent in the additional bill. No questions asked.
