The largest tires I've seen people get away with on the stock wheels in front are 26x9x12, JUST BARELY. The primary issues seems to be hitting the little offset nub on the strut.
People have gone larger by using aftermarket wheels with 4+3 offset.
The rear has fewer clearance issues and you can go bigger there without worry.
There are lots of wheel/tire threads with pictures, you just gotta search for them.
I looked at this extensively.
Unless you can find a specialty tire somewhere, the only way to stay at stock width is to keep stock sizes. Taller tires get fatter too.
The only way I found to get a taller tire that was not also fatter was to use bias-ply tires. but I didn't want to do that.
