Steering Rack and Tie Rods

Anyone been able to adapt a common steering rack and/or tie rods to an Ace? XC or SP? I'm not paying $700 for a new rack when I paid less than half that a year ago. I have two Aces, an XC and an SP. I did the XC last year and now the SP rack and rods are toast.
