Having trouble getting above 52/53 mph?

Seen quite a bit of talk about the speed so I pulled up the drive clutch parts list and schematic today and sure as the world there is a limiter on it.

It is easy to remove but I doubt your dealer will remove it. I know we are not allowed to but what you do at home is your on business.

I removed the clutch limiter for a test last sat. It did help to reach top speed quicker and reduced the rpms from 8500 to 8000 on my ace at 52 mph. I also tried a cold air filter at the same time neither one of those things made any difference at the top end.

The past few days I have been comparing the ace to the 570 rzr and 500 atv and 570 atvs to see which parts or upgrades could be used on the ace from those types. Like the adjustable struts for the front of ace are the same as would be used on any like front end build of a Polaris atv, the air breather and the trans rear end are the same as a 570 rzr. I am trying to find out if the 327 motor is the same block as the 570 prostar just with a sleeve and smaller piston. If so that could offer up some performance parts that may be interchangable.

Since my test and given that tire size, personal weight has little effect on top end I am hoping that the limit of 52 or so is the cause of the ecm and hoping it maybe changeable with the 570 prostar one, if the motors are the same other than sleeve and piston size. It would remove the speed limiter. Finding this kinda stuff out is a pain in the butt some times.

Seems like dropping the RPM by 500 at the top end is a worthwhile endeavor.
Can you post a photo of the thing you removed and where it goes?
Any down sides?
Polaris put it in there for a reason, I'd like to know what I would be risking by removing it.

I did get to compare the schematics of the 570 and the ace motor today. They are nothing a like unfortunately. My hope of it being the same block with a different piston head and sleeve or cylinder was wrong. Every thing is different and it does have a shorter stroke.

The reason why I even looked at the clutch and removed the limiter is on the 900 and 1000 they use it to limit speed by keeping the belt from going all the way up the clutch.
