The KFI with either the Viper or Venom winches are very popular. And attractive due to the price. I have one. The KFI mount and winch guard is very solid. And it will work with the Polaris Extreme brushguard/bumper.

Hopefully the less expensive winch wont be a let down. I just started the wiring today. The solenoid is @ 1/2 the size of the Polaris part. And the wiring isn't anywhere as substantial either. Is It enough? Hard to say. But for @ 1/2 the cost of the Polaris winch, they had to cut corners somewhere.

Should this unit cause me any problems I will just replace it with a Polaris or Warn winch and call it done. For me its just for emergency use. Last winch I had on my Brute Force for @ 8 years and only needed it 2x. And that was pulling out other people who don't know how to stay on the trails...lol

 

Both are good brands. I would recommend synthetic rope.

 

I also have the kfi mount and guard.Good sturdy products .I bought a off brand winch (4000lb) from Canadian tire that was on sale for just over 100 cnd .Very heavy winch with steel gears .Got a cordless remote kit from amazon that I installed today and it works great and came with a mini remote and a credit card sized remote for the princely sum of 12 bucks.

 

I picked up 2 Harbor Freight winches for $39 bucks during a Black Friday event last December. The reviews online have been surprisingly very good with many stating that the badland winches lasted longer than "reputable" brands.

I did rewire mine so it has a mechanical switch and also the stock wireless switch.

 

How are the superwinches, does anyone know ? I'm thinking of getting the terra winch with the KFI mount..

 

I have had a Superwinch Terra 35 with the KFI mount since November of 2014. I routinely ride with two RZRs on jeep trails. There are lots of places that the RZRs can climb over that I have to winch over. I have used the winch a lot and have had no problems. It has a handheld remote that you have to plug in to a socket to use. I have never used the remote. So far, my friends have hooked me onto a tree and I stay in the Ace to use the winch. I have the synthetic rope and make sure to wash it if I use the winch in mud and it is wearing well.

 

I also have the SuperWinch Terra 3500 and it has proven to be a fantastic winch. Sorry, I know nothing about the KFI mount. Mine is mounted to an EMP front brush guard.
